Eastern Europe Pilgrimage - September 10 to 26, 2008
Greetings from Penang, Malaysia!
From this little corner of South East Asia, we are in the midst of finalising our pilgrimage to Eastern Europe. Travelling to Frankfurt, Germany, our faith journey begins as we touch down and coach to our first destination, Prague, where we will visit the renowned Church of Our Lady Victorious, which houses the Infant Jesus of Prague. We will also visit historical sites of old Prague as well as the Castle area which houses St Vitus Cathedral.
Our journey will then take us to Czestohowa to Poland's Black Madonna, after which we will cross to Auswich concentration camp where St Maximillian was martyred, and onto Krakow, Poland where we retrace the footsteps of the late Pope John Paul II, culminating in celebrating the Holy Hour with the nuns of St Faustina's Convent, at the Basilica of Divine Mercy.
We will also visit Budapest and Hungary's patron saint's holy hand - St Stephen's Cathedral and the Chapel of the Holy Right Hand, and then onto Croatia to Ludbreg, where the Eucharistic Miracle of the Wine turning into the blood of Christ. From Ludbreg, we will traverse to Zagreb and Sarajevo, where the early Christian communities were established.
Then it is onto Medjugorje, and then to Sinj and Split in Croatia. There in Split, we will visit the summer palace of the Roman Emperor Diocletian where many Christians were martyred, including St Philomena, the patron saint of the Universal Living Rosary. From Split, we will sail across the Adriatic Sea to Ancona, Italy, where our journey continues to Lanciano, the home of one of the most renowned Eucharistic Miracle and then to ....
SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO, where we will join the pilgrims to celebrate the Virgil Mass for the feast day of St Pio!
From San Giovanni, we will proceed first to Naples and to Mugnano del Cardinal, where the relics of St Philomena rests in the Sanctuary of St Philomena.
We will end in Rome, visiting the St Peter's Basilica, St Mary Major, St John Lateran and St Paul outside the walls.
